Who We Are
Techgear Inc ("we", "us", "our") is the developer and publisher of the Cancel Subscription iOS application ("App"). We are responsible for your personal data as the data controller under applicable privacy law.
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- The Cancel Subscription iOS application
- Our website at cancelsubscription.app
- Any related services, support communications, and updates
Our Privacy Commitment: We built Cancel Subscription with a privacy-first approach. Email scanning for subscription detection is performed entirely on your device. We do not read, store, or transmit your email content to our servers.

Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information unless you contact us for support
- We do not collect or store your email login credentials
- We do not access, read, or transmit the full body of your emails to our servers
- We do not collect payment card details or banking information
- We do not build advertising profiles or sell your data
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely for the following purposes:
- Providing core features — detecting subscriptions, displaying your subscription list, calendar view, and spending insights
- Sending local notifications — reminding you of upcoming renewals based on your preferences (all processed locally on your device)
- Improving the App — analysing anonymised usage patterns to understand which features are most useful and to prioritise improvements
- Fixing bugs — using anonymised crash reports to identify and resolve technical issues quickly
- Customer support — if you contact us, we use the information you provide solely to respond to your enquiry
- Legal compliance — retaining records where required by applicable law
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond what is listed above. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Performance of a contract — Processing necessary to provide the App features you have requested (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR)
- Legitimate interests — Anonymised analytics and crash reporting to maintain and improve the App, where our interests do not override your rights (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR)
- Consent — Where we rely on your consent (e.g., notification permissions), you can withdraw consent at any time via your device Settings (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR)
- Legal obligation — Where we are required by law to retain certain records (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR)
On-Device Processing & Email Scanning
The Cancel Subscription app uses Apple's native frameworks to scan your email inbox for subscription-related billing receipts and renewal confirmations. This process:
- Runs entirely on your iPhone — email content never leaves your device
- Only looks for billing-related keywords (e.g., "receipt", "subscription", "renewal", "invoice") — it does not read personal or unrelated emails
- Stores identified subscription data (service name, price, renewal date) locally on your device using Apple's secure on-device storage
- Does not transmit email content to Techgear Inc servers or any third-party servers
Your email stays on your device. We have no technical ability to access, view, or read your emails. All email scanning is performed locally by your iPhone.
You can revoke the App's access to your email at any time via iPhone Settings → Cancel Subscription → Permissions.
Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use industry-standard analytics and crash reporting services to understand how the App is used and to fix technical issues. These tools collect anonymised data only:
- Screens visited and features tapped within the App
- Session duration and frequency of use
- Crash logs including device model, OS version, and anonymised stack traces
- Device type and OS version for compatibility analysis
Analytics data does not include your name, email address, subscription content, or any data that could directly identify you. All identifiers are anonymised or pseudonymised before transmission.
You can opt out of analytics tracking via iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements or by contacting us at appledev650@gmail.com.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share limited anonymised data only in the following circumstances:
- Analytics providers — Anonymised, aggregated usage and crash data with analytics service providers (such as Firebase / Google Analytics), bound by data processing agreements and GDPR-compliant data practices
- Apple App Store — Apple processes payments and may collect data per their own Privacy Policy
- Legal requirements — We may disclose data if required to do so by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights
- Business transfers — In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred; we will notify users in advance and ensure continued privacy protections
All third-party service providers we use are contractually obligated to handle data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
Data Retention
- On-device subscription data — retained on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App
- Anonymised analytics data — retained by analytics providers for up to 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted or aggregated
- Crash reports — retained for up to 90 days to allow investigation and resolution
- Support correspondence — retained for up to 3 years to assist with ongoing or repeat enquiries, then securely deleted
You can delete all locally stored App data at any time by deleting the App from your iPhone. To request deletion of any data held by our analytics providers, please contact us.

- In the case of significant changes affecting your rights, provide at least 30 days' notice before the new policy takes effect
